Yoga For Athletes
Special Workshop for Athletes on Saturday, October 13th at 2pm at Three Birds Yoga Studio in Florham Park, NJ. Click here for more.
The benefits of yoga, pranayama (breathing exercises), and meditation are well-documented, including increasing flexibility, strengthening core muscles, improving balance, lowering stress and enhancing mental focus and capacity. For athletes who work the same muscle groups repetitively, yoga helps to restore balance to the body helping to prevent injuries and accelerate recovery.
Working collaboratively with coaches, we develop the most effective long-term yoga programs designed to complement and enhance team training. Especially important for teens and developing athletes, yoga and mindfulness training will help young athletes maximize their potential not only in their sport, but in all areas of their lives.
We have been working with with the Berkeley Aquatic Club since October 2015 to integrate yoga into Berkeley’s comprehensive training strategy for competitive student-athletes. Berkeley's brand new facility is located in New Providence, NJ featuring a state-of-the-art 50-meter pool, yoga for all ages and abilities, and a holistic approach to fitness. The new facility, with a mention of the yoga room, was featured in the January 2016 issue of Swimming World Magazine.
