During the holiday season, it can become difficult to take care of our own needs. We might find ourselves saying yes to social engagements that deplete us or overindulging the senses with treats that might taste good in the moment but make our bodies feel sluggish the next day. While it is important to enjoy the spirit of the season, finding ways to joyfully nourish ourselves can be one of the greatest gifts of self-care.
These simple treats are delicious and so easy to make. You can whip up a batch in a few minutes and store them in the freezer for last-minute guests.
Easy Raw Cacao Bites
2 cups dried pitted dates
2 cups walnuts
4 TB raw cacao
Place walnuts in food processor and grind until they are crumbly. Add dates and cacao and blend until smooth. Once mixture seems well-blended, you can roll into little bite-size balls. I like to coat my hands with coconut oil to prevent sticking. Store in airtight container in freezer or fridge. Note: The mixture is a bit more crumbly than other recipes, so you may need to work the "dough" as you prepare them. Enjoy the rich nutty flavor.
