While cinnamon can be used therapeutically as an essential oil or added to food or spice mixtures, I like to use it to make tea because it is so delicious and simple to make.
While consuming small to moderate amounts cinnamon is safe, avoid consuming large amounts of cinnamon and find a different tea if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have ulcers or heart condition.
1 tsp ground cinnamon
2 cinnamon sticks
4 cups water
1 tsp honey
Combine hot water with cinnamon and simmer over low heat for 2 minutes. Add honey and let everything steep in a covered pot for 10 minutes. Strain before serving.
Note: These proportions create a very light and not-too-sweet blend. You can let it sit longer for a stronger taste. You can also have fun experimenting with the proportions. For a heartier tea, you can add more ground cinnamon. For a sweeter tea, add more honey.
